Rams, Bolts, and Chargers Climb the Ladder in Week One…
April 10th, 2022
Week One:
With week one of RI boys volleyball in the books, easily the three teams that impressed the most were Chariho, Cranston East, and La Salle. The Chargers and Rams were able to score key early wins in the league, while Cranston East picked apart two teams in the rebuilding phase. Meanwhile, East Providence and Lincoln jumped on the board with strong performances, capitalizing on some tough opening campaigns for others.
North Kingstown - Defending Champs are 2-0 and were able to grind out an early big win at Chariho. Cam Alexander is putting up big numbers early on.
La Salle Academy - La Salle dispatched Cranston West and South Kingstown convincingly for a 2-0 record. Nick Lisi looks to be the gun when things go funky for the Rams.
Cranston East - The Bolts are 2-0, claiming victories over South Kingstown and Classical. Jordan Bou and Vincent Yin appear to be a tough combo to handle.
Chariho - Knocking off Hendricken at their barn was big. NK, at home was a setback, but the 1-1 Chargers are a threat, especially if Tyler White serves tough.
Hendricken - The Hawks took down Classical and Cranston West in week one, but the Chargers serving proved too tough. (2-1). Garrepy Jr. attacking at the setter position looks challenging to stop.
East Greenwich - They had solid showing against North Kingstown and then stunned Coventry at home. The Avengers are putting some pieces together. (1-1).
Coventry - The Oakers were shocked in their opener vs. Cranston West. Rebounding they got a win over Classical but fell to East Greenwich at home. (1-2). Logan Voelker is hitting some shots, but something is off for Coventry.
Cranston West - Their win over Coventry was big. From there, they’ve dropped two straight to Hendricken and La Salle (1-2). Getting Chris Buonaccorsi back is key for their future.
MSC / NS - With a sweep of Woonsocket, the North Mountie Men begin their roll in D2.
Pilgrim - The 2-0 Patriots scored a huge come from behind vic against rivals West Warwick for a massive win in the D2 landscape.
Westerly - The Bulldogs are off to a good start with two wins, two sweeps, and solid play from Hunter Armitage.
Classical - Off to a rocky start as wins haven’t come for the Purple. They were able to grab a set from Coventry and push them.
West Warwick - The Wizards leave week one with a heartbreaking five set loss to Pilgrim, in an early playoff match-up preview.
East Providence - The Townies jump on the board with a 2-0 week one and an impressive win hosting Barrington.
Lincoln - The Lions, also new to the board, survived their match with St. Rays and took care of business vs. Central Falls.
